Have a great time on your journey of collaboration learning!
In the process of group collaboration, have you ever encountered such a situation: as soon as students encounter group tasks, they write their own. And the real collaboration only stays in a few names on PPT. 😵 Have you ever designed a group task with high expectations, but ended up with an awkward, silence, or chaotic ending. 😔💤
1.Notion (https://www.notion.com/)
In Notion, several students can share the page to edit the same content at the same time, and their avatars or initials will be displayed on the cursor. So that students can complete the writing task together instead of writing a paragraph and finally piece it together (in this case, the writing style of the article will be very cut off😭). Moreover, the teacher can add comments directly next to it, which is conducive to causing students to think and reflect on specific problems. 🤔
2. Stormboard (https://stormboard.com/)
Stormboard is not a document interface, but more like a combination of digital whiteboard and collaboration platform➕. It is a dynamic whiteboard full of moveable sticky notes and visual elements. It combines functions such as sticky notes, real-time collaboration and voting. It is very suitable for tasks such as brainstorming and mind maps in the classroom. 😏
I think the biggest highlight of Stormboard is that students not only write, but also operate and reorganise ideas together👍. Learners can create notes, group labels, and even vote on the best ideas. Moreover, the labels have different colours (I really like it😻), and students can classify and sort different notes according to their importance. This allows collaborative students to change from passive co-writing to active thinking.
❗️However, Stormboard is not suitable for analysing long text, and it would be easy to distract students. And I think the form of convenient signing and voting is more suitable for brainstorming and collecting group opinions at the beginning of group cooperation.
Finally, I want to say that different tools can play different roles in collaborative learning. As teachers, we need to understand that the key to collaborative learning is not which tool to use, but to design tasks that students can cooperate with each other to complete 😁. Only in this way can students' motivation and passion for collaboration learning be stimulated 👊.

Your post is useful for me. With your clear and visual introduction, I have gained a deeper understanding of the two tools, especially the Stromboard, which I was not very familiar with before. When discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the tools, you also address their educational value, for example, “transparency” and “active thinking”, and this has inspired me to reflect further.
回复删除Really enjoy reading this post! I like how you pointed out that "collaborative learning is not which tool to use, but to design tasks that students can cooperate with each other to complete" in the last paragraph, that's resonates with me. We should always think about our students's thoughts and need!
回复删除Your post is very helpful to me. Through your clear and well-organized explanation, I have developed a better understanding of the two tools, especially Stormboard, which I was not very familiar with before. I also appreciate how you discussed both the advantages and limitations of these tools while linking them to their educational value, such as promoting transparency and encouraging active thinking. This has encouraged me to reflect more deeply on how these tools can be used in teaching.
